The Cavalry Cobs
Jane Hurford Dawson
Jane has evented to Intermediate level and competed at Dressage to medium level. She has a number of cobs who train in all disciplines and also take to battle fields to perform re-enactments. She was employed as Head of Equine and Animal Science at Writtle College teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in Equestrian studies and veterinary care. She is a qualified teacher holding a PGCE, a Masters in Education and a BHSAI.
Helen Hurford Dawson
Helen has worked at senior level as a director for over 20 years and is winding down ready for retirement. Helen has competed in BE100, BD Novice, National Trec Champs and represents the Keysoe Riding club in every discipline. She has a number of cobs who train in all disciplines and also take to battle fields to perform re-enactments. Her new horse Maggie is a very exciting prospect.
David Whyte
David served as part of the cavalry and later an instructor at Windsor park. Since retiring he is having lots of fun with Tim representing the Keysoe Riding club, hunting as well as Skill at Arms displays and battle proms. David will have a go at any discipline and is very good with the weapons. David has recently moved into his own place but is still part of the team to go to Germany in September.
Mary Lazarus
Mary rides Monty in the GB Trec competitions and has qualified for the Championships at level one, two and three. Mary also enjoys dressage and hunting. She often represents the Keysoe Riding Club at competitions. She is training to be a Trec Judge and is part of the team heading to Germany in September, predominantly as ground crew, but may ride monty in the dressage.
Katie Evans
Katy squeezes in as much riding as possible between work and children. She loves dressage on Mrs K and Flynn, team chasing Monty and her passion is eventing. Katy helps school the cobs and prepare them for their activities as well as representing Keysoe riding club and competing in BD. Mrs K and Katy have qualified for the BD Area Festivals for the second year and hope to improve on their placings. Katy is heading to Germany to ride in the dressage and jumping phases of the competition.
Chris Evans
Chris (husband to Katy and father of two boys) works long hours but squeezes in riding when he can. Very skilled with the sword and lance and loves XC and hunting. He does battle reenactments with the 15th Hussars. Chris will be heading to Germany and try to retain Flynn title for the Lance he earned with Corrie King in 2017. Amy Nash Amy is the international dressage star and helps school the cobs and competes Percy at Elementary BD.
